What is FRP corrosion protection?
FRP corrosion protection involves the uniform mixing of FRP resin/epoxy resin/unsaturated resin, fiberglass cloth, and auxiliary materials, and then applying a comprehensive anti-corrosion coating to the construction surface (concrete or metal surface) to achieve the design standards for corrosion protection.
2. Performance characteristics of FRP corrosion protection
(1) Excellent corrosion resistance, strong resistance to acid, alkali, salt, chemical solvents, oil corrosion, etc.
(2) Good adhesion to the substrate, strong wear resistance, impact resistance, good integrity, no cracking, and a certain elasticity.
(3) Can improve the strength and elastic modulus of the substrate; dustproof, easy to clean, and long service life.
(4) Improve the heat deformation temperature and low-temperature impact strength; according to the design requirements, various acid-resistant and corrosion-resistant stone slabs, ceramic tiles, and other anti-corrosion materials can be bonded to the FRP coating surface with resin slurry.
(5) When applied to the surface of water pools, it has the advantages of long-term water immersion resistance, low water permeability, strong adhesion, high water pressure resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, mildew prevention, harmlessness, long service life, simple construction, and no need for a protective layer.
What should be noted in the FRP corrosion protection construction of wastewater pools?
The construction effect of FRP corrosion protection is of concern to many customers, after all, customers judge based on the results. To ensure satisfactory corrosion protection results, the following points should be noted during the corrosion protection construction:
1. Embedding putty
For uneven surfaces or interlayer depressions on the base layer, putty should be scraped to fill them, and then fiberglass cloth should be applied after 24 hours. The putty for FRP corrosion protection should not be too thick, otherwise, cracking may occur during heat treatment.
2. Pasting fiberglass cloth
The pasting order of fiberglass cloth should generally be opposite to the water flow direction, starting with channels, skirting, and holes, and then the ground. The overlap should be in line with the material flow direction, the bonding width is generally no less than 50 mm, and the overlaps of each layer should be staggered. When pasting fiberglass cloth during FRP corrosion protection construction, do not pull it too tight; it is sufficient to achieve basic straightness.
3. Pasting
There are two methods for FRP corrosion protection construction: intermittent method and continuous method. The method should be selected based on the construction conditions and requirements. This project has a large construction area, which is conducive to continuous operation, and the anti-pollution conditions are relatively good, so the continuous method is adopted.
4. Continuous method
In FRP corrosion protection construction, after applying epoxy resin adhesive with a brush or roller in both longitudinal and transverse directions, immediately paste a layer of fiberglass cloth, and use a scraper or brush to press and compact the fiberglass cloth, or use a roller to repeatedly roll it to ensure sufficient penetration and bonding until the design thickness is reached. Fiberglass cloth generally adopts a fish scale overlapping method, that is, when laying layers, the upper layer should cover half of each layer in the lower layer. For the third, fourth, and fifth layers, each layer should be overlapped.
